Room 13 Torrin - Grand Opening!!!
Congratulations to the artists of Room 13 Torrin who staged the grand opening of their studio in May. This was the result of a massive effort by the community to convert an old barn owned by resident artist Rebecca Smith into an art studio for the community.

Carbon Neutral Award Trophy 2009
Congratulations to TBWA\ Moscow, winner of the 2009 Carbon Neutral Challenge. Their achievement is marked with this beautiful trophy commissioned by TBWA\ and designed by the young artists of Room 13 Shikshayatan.

Room 13 Hareclive promote their studio with a film
Room 13 Hareclive have made a short promtional film about their studio. They made use of the editing suite at Tequila\ London, as part of the prize for winning the companies Christmas Card competition.

Lab 13 Competition Success
A group from Lab13 entered into an Ignite! competition (called invent!) with their design for a chain reaction model that started with a flick and ended in a pop of balloon. Their design got through to the final, in which they had to show their design in action in front of four judges and the other competing schools. Thankfully their creation worked first time and they where the runners up! The team won some Amazon vouchers and science games for the lab.

Coin Painting at Lochaber Games
Artists from Room 13 Shikshayatan and Room 13 Lochyside got together to
complete a Coin Painting at Lochaber Highland Games. The event, which
was organised by the Rotary Club of Lochaber, raised over £100 for
local charities, including Room 13 International!

Room 13 Interntional Summer School 2009 is underway, at the Ariann Shuainart (The Sunart Centre), Strontian, Scotland.

Worldwide Room 13 Exhibition in Sweden
An exhibition featuring artwork by a worldwide grouping of artists from Room 13 studios is currently on show at Dunkers Kulturhus, Helsingborg, Sweden.

Room 13 Science Lab now open!
Room 13 has helped launch an experimental new project!
'Lab 13' the first Room 13 Science Lab, is now open in Dovecote Primary School, Nottingham. Students and staff have been working with IgniteFutures to get their Lab up and running. It will be run as a business by a student management team, just like any Room 13. Young people from within the school will use the space to explore science, technology and invention.

Exhibition at National Galleries of Scotland
Room 13 Lochyside is pleased to present an exhibition of new work inspired by the National Galleries of Scotland. The exhibition, which features work from Room 13 Lochyside and Room 13 International Studio Network, will be on display from 25th March to 29th April 2009
at the National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh.
On Tuesday 31st March, Natalie Brayshaw and Stephanie Maclennan of Room 13 Lochyside along with Mark Faulkner of Lochaber High School will be presenting a lunchtime lecture at the Gallery called: Room 13 - The Future of Art?

Room 13 Artist to Represent UK at Tate Modern
Marley
Falconer of Room 13 Caol has been chosen to represent the UK at Tate Modern
with her artwork 'Solar Girl'. The exhibition opening will be held on 2nd
April. Marley will travel to London to participate in events organized by
Unilever for the 15 winning representatives from 15 countries worldwide. 'Solar Girl', along with 14 other winning artworks from around the world, will be on display in the Crore Education Centre until 2nd May.
